Reflection 3/12

      We did go over direct quotation, summarizing, and paraphrasing when it comes to a sentence essay. Me personally I prefer direct quotations because it's word for word, so it's like copy and paste. Plus it's already a piece of evidence. In situations when a direct quote is too long; that's when you have to paraphrase or summarize.

Reflection 3/19

    I'm glad there wasn't much for us to do today. Plus it's Friday, it's the end of the week and at that point I'm just ready to get out of school. My only problem with today is the direction explaining. At first it was explained one way, but when we do it wrong there's a problem. Should've been made clear the first time, we're all not mind readers. Especially when some of us are doing school virtually.

5/12-Exam Day

      The exam wasn't too bad at all really. I think I actually did really good on the multiple choice timing wise and  feeling confident on what was the best answer. The essay part wasn't too bad, but I ended up spending too much time on the synthesis essay. Even though that was the case, I was still able to finish the rhetorical analysis and argumentative essay. I didn't do great on rhetorical analysis because I couldn't remember much of the devices, but I pulled what I could remember. Argumentative was ok, but it could've been better now that I'm thinking about it. My hand was hurting at that point and I just wanted to be done. So I'd say synthesis was my best essay out of all 3 of them. The exam on a whole felt a little more easier than the practice we've been doing. It was a lot easier for me to read the passages and understand them which made it a lot easier for me.

Reflection: Black History

      Starting off the first day of Black History Month , a poem I read along with my class was "The Negro Speaks of Rivers". From my understanding this poem represents history of the black race in a time where they were being discriminated against. There was this question we had to answer and it was, "How are rivers like the blood that flows through human veins?". It really made me think, because when you compare and river and blood, they both flow continuously and only stops when something stops them. So I thought that was really interesting.     Also there's this idea that in the beginning of time, everyone originated from Africa and overtime everyone moved further away. That's how we have Europe, Asia, Caribbean islands. Everyone believes differently so it's just a thought, but I did hear it from someone when I was in middle school so I thought it was really cool that it came up again.
